Bridges Charitable Trust

 

Bridges Ventures set up the Bridges Charitable Trust to reflect the social mission of the company and to reflect the dual motivation of our team to achieve social as well as financial rewards.

The Bridges Charitable Trust is a shareholder in Bridges Ventures and has control over any change to the company’s founding commitment to raise only funds with social goals.  The Bridges Ventures team members have committed to donate 10% of their own profits in the Bridges Venture funds to the Bridges Charitable Trust.

The Bridges Charitable Trust supports philanthropic activities that cannot be funded with the commercial investment with which the Bridges Ventures Funds operate.  It has wide charitable goals but a particular focus on:

  • supporting entrepreneurship that benefits excluded and deprived communities
  • promoting education and opportunity for disadvantaged children and young people

The first activity of the Bridges Charitable Trust has been the creation of the Bridges Social Entrepreneurs Fund which provides equity-like capital to address the funding gap often faced by fast growing social enterprises looking to scale. It is the strategy of the Bridges Charitable Trust to focus on a small number of intensive charitable commitments and we are not currently in a position to respond to unsolicited requests for funding.
