Brooks Newmark was elected in 2005 as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Braintree. He was appointed as the Opposition Treasury Whip during July 2007 to December 2008, and in January 2009 was appointed Opposition Whip for Foreign Affairs. Brooks has previously served as a Member of the Treasury Select Committee (2006-7) and the Science & Technology Select Committee (2005-7). Prior to entering politics he was a Senior Partner at Apollo Management, a leading International Private Equity firm. Brooks was educated at Harvard College and Harvard Business School, and was a Politics Research Graduate at Worcester College, Oxford. Brooks is currently an Elected Director of the Board of the Harvard Alumni Association and serves on the Advisory Board of London Business School (The Private Equity Institute).
